Louis Patterson is a photographer, artist and educator based out of Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.

Having pursued sculpture at university, Patterson developed an interest in the people, places and ideas he discussed in his artworks.

This inquisitiveness led him to relocate to Japan where he worked as a teacher for several years from 2011. During this time he was able to immerse  himself in the lifestyle and culture of Japan, experiences which helped shaped him as a person and artist.

In 2015, Patterson took to photography seriously, marrying his love for adventure and art, documenting his summer road trip across the northern prefectures of Japan.

Within his work he aims to capture the in-between moments, quiet reflections and periods of pause.
